While browsing Wikipedia recently, I came upon the article for Heroin. I found this line to be particularly interesting:
"Ironically, benzodiazepines are often used in the treatment of heroin addiction while they cause much more severe withdrawal symptoms."
Now, I've just finished withdrawing from the very potent benzodiazepine Alprazolam, otherwise known as Xanax (which I took only as prescribed by my doctor). I'm drug-free as of 05-04-2007.
Withdrawing from Xanax was (and continues to be) absolutely no fun, but I am still alive. I'm making it through...my heart will go on.
Given that I've made it through benzodiazepine withdrawal and that withdrawing from Heroin is easier, I think it is obvious what my next step should be*.
